[su_quote cite=”Melissa Glover”]“It is probably true to say that I was born into dance, coming to class in my carry cot pretty much from day one! For this I am very grateful as I cannot imagine a life without dance. The variety and standard of dance at Bev-Lyn stood me in good stead when I went to full-time vocational school and later in my professional career. My first show was the Wizard of Oz and since then I have been on stage hundreds of times. The buzz never decreases and now I get the pleasure of seeing our students experience that very thing.”[/su_quote]

Melissa danced at Bev-Lyn until at the age of 11 when she gained a place at the Royal Ballet School, Bush Davies and Elmhurst Ballet School, where she studied dancing and normal GCSEs and A-levels full time. She graduated with Solo Seal (the highest ballet award of the RAD, one of only 5 to gain it that year) and Distinction in all the Advanced exams (Tap, Modern, Spanish and Ballet) plus her teaching qualification in Modern, Tap and Spanish. She was a semi-finalist in the International Ballet Competition—The Adeline Genee Awards. Her professional career included dancing with London City Ballet, Danzes Espagnol and The Strauss Ballet Company amongst others, and one of the highlights was being a soloist for the New Years Day Concert at The Royal Albert Hall.

On returning to Cornwall she was thrilled to join her mother as Vice-Principal of Bev-Lyn and completed a three year teaching Diploma and Certificate of the Royal Academy of Dancing. As well a full-time Mum Melissa is a freelance choreographer, teaches dance on the Games curriculum at Trewirgie Junior School, has worked on the arts team of “Music and Dance Education” working with 0-5 year olds, is Chairman of Dance Schools’ Network, a group of teachers formed to promote dance in Cornwall and has been an A-level tutor at Cornwall College and ballet teacher at Truro High School. She has taught on summer schools all over the country including the Spanish Dance Society’s International Summer School.

Melissa has since appeared on stage many times in Cornwall including: playing Wendy in Peter Pan at the Hall for Cornwall with Colin Baker, taking the title rolls for Duchy Ballet in “Coppelia” and “The Snow Queen” and various musical leads for RAMPS including (Me & My Girl, Carousel, My Fair Lady, Cinderella and Guys and Dolls)
