The school puts on its own show involving all of the pupils every other year.
To give our students added opportunities through-out the year we perform in
musicals, pantomimes, galas and showcases.
The excitement and adrenalin rush that comes from being on stage is one that,
once experienced, is never forgotten.
Dance is a performance art and we aim to give our students this opportunity
as often as possible.
But some choose to do just Ballet or Tap & Jazz or Spanish and this also works well.
Shows
Recent shows at The Regal Theatre and The Hall for Cornwall in Truro have
included “Get Happy!”, “High Spirits”, “Copacabana”, “My Fair Lady”, and our
Ruby Anniversary Extravaganza “The Big 4-Oh Show!” . Our next school show will
be in December 2006.
Workshops
To give our students as broad an experience as possible in dancing, singing and
acting we hold workshops with the top professionals in the business. Past
workshops have included, Rambert, English National Ballet, and West End Dancers
from CATS, Grease and Fame to name a few.
Preparation for professional auditions
We have had students successfully audition for vocational schools including the
Royal Ballet School and advise each individual on their chosen career.
Successful past students
Galas and charity work
We are often invited to perform all over the county. Recently the Dance School’s
Network Showcase Gala “Feet on Fire” raised over £3000 for 3 local charities. It
involved over 250 performers from Cornwall’s best known dancing schools and we
were thrilled to be one of them.
Theatre trips
To broaden our students understanding and inspire them we arrange trips to the
Hall for Cornwall, The Acorn Theatre and Plymouth Theatre Royal to see ballet,
musicals and contemporary companies.
